China Red Star Design Award was initiated by China Industrial Design Association, Beijing Industrial Design Center and New Economy Weekly in 2006, it gets great support from Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and is co-organized by many lcoal design associations.

 

Its significance includes building a creative country; propelling the development of China’s design industry; encouraging Chinese manufacturers’ independent innovation and enhancing their products’ international competitiveness; promoting Chinese culture; protecting intellectual property rights of enterprises; raising the living standards of Chinese people; internationalizing Chinese design.

 

Under the finance crisis, the manufacture industry face problems, and Red Star intends to make industrial design become the tool of developing the industry by selecting good design and summarizing successful stories, help “Made in China” become “Made & Design in China”.
